I joined the faculty of the Department of Business in the fall of 2015 as an Assistant Professor of Accounting. I hold three degrees in Accounting. While obtaining my Ph.D., I was a graduate teaching assistant. I have taught accounting at Roosevelt University in Chicago and Schaumburg, IL. Classes taught so far include Principles of Financial Accounting, Principles of Managerial Accounting, Intermediate Accounting I, and Intermediate Accounting II. My research interests include auditing regulation for both public and private companies (topics such as client importance and auditor rotation), auditor independence, financial statement reliability, nonattest services, and ethics.
I strongly believe in working closely with my students and am passionate about ensuring their success in the classroom as well as in the workforce. I have an 鈥渙pen-door policy,鈥 and encourage my students to email me and visit my office for any difficulties or concerns they may have. Learning about and passing the CPA exam is emphasized in my classroom. I utilize real world examples and other situations that make accounting more interesting and relatable to students.
I am a member of the Ph.D. project and Accounting Doctoral Students Association and regularly present at and attend meetings of the American Accounting Association, MBAA (North American Accounting Society) and other associations, keeping me abreast of the latest occurrences in accounting and auditing and providing wonderful learning tools to incorporate in my classroom. I am a member of the Tennessee Society of CPAs and am a Certified Public Accountant (Mississippi).
