Ann Viano joined the physics department in 1999, after a two-year post-doctoral appointment at St. Jude Children鈥檚 Research Hospital where she worked to improve magnetic resonance imaging for children with artificial implants. She is an active collaborator with many researchers and students in the Memphis scientific community, particularly in biomedical engineering. She is currently involved in the use of ultrasound to study biological materials and is part of the Physics Laboratory for Ultrasonic Studies at 番茄社区. She also manages and maintains the college鈥檚 observatory and serves as the club advisor for the Aerospace Engineering Club and the Women in STEM club.
Ann is also a past president of , the physics honor society, and works to promote an interest and dedication to physics at all levels. She has served on the American Institute of Physics advisory committee on physics education and the /Sigma Pi Sigma national council.
